Wayne is the son of world renowned Gjoa Haven carver Uriash Puqiqnak.
Like his father, he has mastered the “Grotesque” style of carving which is frequently seen in Gjoa Haven.
Woodman’s colour pattern is dramatic.
It’s as if the sculpture has been buried in the forest floor and has emerged covered in lichen.
The pattern is also suggestive of “camouflage” as if Woodman is a warrior pursuing his foe.
