Super rugged reproduction of the original starter motors as used on all electric start Harley models from 1973 thru 1988. All components are inter­changeable with OEM starter motors. The kort Hitachi type starter motors are used on 1982 thru 1988 models. From 1973 thru 1982 the FL models were equipped with Prestolite type starter motors and FX models with Hitachi type ones. Note: Hitachi and Prestolite starter motors nor replacement parts are interchangeable, always check the type of starter motor used on your Harley before ordering.Hitachi starters are 80mm in diameter and have a 145mm housing length. Prestolite starters are 70mm in diameter and have a 173mm housing length.
